My goals this week

Hopefully by the end of the week I will have:

  2. Created one more pattern to sell in my shop
  3. recieved my shipment of watch faces from www.ewatchwholesale.com
  4. recieved my shipment from www.firemountaingemstones.com
  5. so that I can start on some jewelry (wahoo I have been waiting for months to have enough $$ to buy tons of beads)

What are you working on?

Etsy Showcase

I have never done a showcase before in Etsy. I am really nervous. It is tomorrow. I am trying to get a few blankets done tonight so that I can have a good inventory.

My huge, unrealistic goal is to sell tons (like 20 would be great) of patterns and maybe a few (3-4) custom blankets.

My realistic goal is to sell a few (4-5) patterns and a custom blanket or two or even a kit.

So wish me luck and rub a bald guys head for me :)

OOOH Another Blanket....

Oh man I made a new design for my rag quilts. I am so excited. I just used leftover flannel that I had around here and it turned out so cute.

Of course it is girly (well what do you expect I have 2 girls :) I am feeding the baby and don't have a picture of it yet so....

Just imagine pink and white and butterflies...

Hopefully I live up to your imagination!

For sure I will have pics tomorrow for you

Delicious Dessert

I love Ice Cream. It was one of my most favorite treats to eat.

Saturday was our Anniversary, 6 whole years! We went to the LDS Temple for a session and then to Applebee's for dinner. My inlaws watched both girls for us and they did great.

When we were there I saw this and really wanted it but decided that $6.00 was a little steep for me. So we swung by Walmart on the way home and got the ingredients for it. Yes I did spend more than $6.00 for it but there was more ice cream so we could share and then have enough for seconds later (well and 3rds).

Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cake

1 quart of peanut butter ice cream (softened)

1 quart of chocolate (softened)

1 pkg of oreos

Fudge or chocolate sauce (I used Hersheys Syrup that is whopper flavored)

Whipping cream

I used an angle food cake pan. This worked great cause we could remove it from the outer pan and it was easy to cut still.

Melt a couple of tbsp of butter and crush oreos (I used about 1 row). Mix together and squish it on the bottom of the pan.

Put the chocolate ice cream on top of the oreos

Next put the chocolate syrup/fudge on top of the chocolate ice cream

Next put on the peanut butter ice cream.

Put in the freezer to firm it back up. This will take a few hours, but it is worth the wait.

When you are ready to serve remove from freezer and then remove the inside part of the pan and cut. Then top with whipping cream.

I think that this turned out great. It could have been prettier and I wish I would have taken a picture of it. But it was so worth it (we ate it 3 nights in a row for dessert).

I hope you enjoy this and please leave me a message and show me your creation!

What am I working on?

The idea of the applique blankets came from here. They have some really cute rag blankets so go check them out. They are hoping to go national soon so give them some love!

You know I love me some car seat covers. I have been selling the pattern to these in my Etsy shop

Both of these are gifts, and the blue and brown one is not quite finished yet. I still have to clip it and attatch some straps. I am thinking big buttons for the straps. What do you think

Big Hair Bows

These two bows measure about 5 inches across. I have not head sealed the ends yet so dont mind the unfinished part. My daughter loves these huge bows.
I found this lady bug ribbon at Micheals and loved it so I decided to make my 3 yr old a bow out of it. I crocheted the flower and the dragonfly is a brad from my scrapbooking stuff. My daughter does not really have any red clothes so she has yet to wear this bow but I still think it is cute

This bow is one of my favorites that I have made the only problem is that my daughter does not have anything that is brown and pink to wear but she still wears it even though it does not go well with any one of her outfits.

More Hair Bows

I told you all that I have been busy with making hair bows. Well Ok I kinda fibbed a little. My mom went crazy making hair bows along with me and my sister. Some of these I made and some my mom made, but there are a ton more. Of the ones that mom made my sister took half.

I guess that is what you get when you have 2 baby girls born 1 month from each other in the same family.

Flower Bows for my Girlys

So here are the bows my girls are going to be sporting around now. The bigger flowers even I have been wearing in my hair. I am learning that I really love these things plus they are almost as easy as the ribbon flower bows that I posted last. They just cost more and are harder to find this time of year. Next spring I am going to go crazy and buys me some more for sure!

A Few of the Latest Hair Bows

Many more bows to come. Me, my sister, and my mom have been working on many bows

These hair bows are so dang easy. There are many mornings when I think "oh crap I don't have a bow for the girls outfit today so I whip up one of these cause they take no time at all. I have gotten the tutorial from Girly Things Bows

More Dresses and a condensed Skirt Tutorial

I used the Itsy Bitsy Pattern for the smaller dress. It is a bit small for my 2 month old so next one I make will have a wider chest. The skirt is from the same pattern as the watermelon skirt it is a different view though.
This dress is from the same pattern as the blue flower one posted earlier It just does not have as many tiers.

I am so proud of myself for this one. I should have made you all a tutorial for it but the basics are:
Lay out a skirt that you like on top of the fabric you are going to use. Cut out 2 pieces of fabric in the shape of the skirt but make sure to allow enough for a seam allowance. When I was doing this I forgot to account for the elastic waist so the first try barely fit over my hips. That skirt has now been gifted to my lil sis.
Next sew those two pieces together on the long side. I used my serger for this.
Then fold over the top 1/4 inch and sew it down. You might want to iron it over first before sewing. I am lazy and did not do that.
Then fold over the top again but this time do it wide enough for your elastic and sew the fabric in that position.
Then fold over the bottom 1/4 inch and sew around the skirt. and repeat for a nice finished look.
Easy Peasy. This is the first womans size skirt that I have made. But it is only the 6th piece of clothing that I have ever made.
Right now I am working on another skirt this one is much fancier and I am actually using a pattern but I really need an invisible zipper and a little of my moms help to make sure I do it right. Apparently you need an invisible zipper foot to sew in a zipper. Who would have thought :)
