Blog Swap with Crafterhours

When Bobbie suggested we blog swap, Adrianna and I talked about what we'd like to do. Since Bobbie is a rag quilter, we thought a rag strip woven/embellished trivet might be fun. And a variation on the idea, weaving non-bias bias tape through. We started with this set of two trivets, which came from the Target Dollar Spot. Except they were $2.50. Ahem... Target? That's cheating.

We cut a 1" wide, 40" long strip of Freshcut by Heather Bailey.
Loop it over the first bar and stitch together.

Like so:

Add ImageAnd start weaving it through.
When flipping at the end, turn the strip so that the right sides all face the same way:
Keep going until you're covered all the way across.
Twirl the tail around to make a loop and stitch it on the wrong side to close. For the non-bias bias tape version, use two 40" strips of double fold tape that have been joined to make an 80" strip. Weave it through the same way.
Loop it around twice at the end.
Wrap around and pull the end through sort of like a necktie. Pull it taut. Trim the end, tuck it under and apply some strategic stitches to keep it together.
All done.

And the easiest way, version 3: Quilt two layers of fabric and some batting together that are the same width of the trivet and weave the whole thing through. This one is really easy to swap out for different holidays/color themes.

All 3 versions together. Yummy.

Thank you Crafterhours for doing a blog swap with me! Don't you all just think that their ideas are grand?
