Wow, I'm so excited to be here today at Bobbie's awesome blog! She has one amazing memory, because we agreed to do this blog swap AGES ago and guess who remembered? Bobbie! Yup, that's right....in other words, not me. Luckily, I was working on a fun little project and I can't wait to share it with you!
First, let me introduce myself. I'm Meg, from A Little Knick Knack. I am currently a midwest, stay-at-home-mom to 3 children (all under the age of 4), that keep me on my toes, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Finding time to make my house a home is what I enjoy most (and playing with my kiddos). Sharing these things through blogland is so much fun, and I'm so happy I can share some things with you today.
I have a fun bench on my teeny, tiny, itsy-bitsy front porch. My friends husband made it for me and I love the simplicity of it. I had fun painting and decorating it (check out my post HERE). But, it was sad, alone, lacking...something.
Enter all these empty pots I had from a failed attempt at a container garden last year (I will try again! I promise!).
I love flowers, so I decided to beautify my pots and make my little porch a bit brighter. I painted 2 of the pots with chalkboard paint. I LOVE chalkboard paint. You can do so much with it!
One I painted a nice, light white and the other, the same cornflower blue I used to paint the bench.
After they all dried, I decided they needed a tad more....something, so I decided to add some jute to the top of a few pots by simply tying and knotting them in the front. With the chalkboard pots, I added a free-handed "welcome."
....or you could make it a little more in tune with the season...
The white pot I had fun putting a little No. 5 (the number of people in my family...is there any good reason for picking random numbers?). I used the same method many use....I found a nice stencil and traced it in pencil on the pot. Then, I used my trusty black paint pen to fill it in. Nice...and easy!
After that, it was simply finding the right plants to put in the pot. My son and I had fun picking out some gorgeous flowers and I can't wait to see them grow and bloom as the summer goes on!
The tray I found at my favorite store in the whole world, Hobby Lobby, and lugged it all the way home from Texas.
I think it all came together....beautifully!
Feel free to check out my blog for a fun giveaway! And, THANK YOU BOBBIE for this awesome opportunity to talk to your faithful readers!
Thanks Megan! It looks like we both have a bad obsession with Hobby Lobby ... good thing I don't have one locally either :)
Remember to stop by tomorrow for another installment of Check ME Out Saturday. I can't wait to see what everyone has been up to
