30 Day Food Challenge

It is the countdown to the 30 day food challenge...only 2 days left (well technically 1 1/2)

I am super excited for this. I have received many really great recipe submissions. ( I am still looking for a few more)

I am still working on my menu for the entire month. That will come either Sunday or Monday.

So here is how it is going to work:
Each day you will see up to 3 recipes
  1. a dinner or entree recipe
  2. an appetizer, dessert, or drink (I was not going to do drink recipes but I received a few and decided to share them with you all
  3. a recipe from yours truly. This recipe will most likely coincide with what I am making that day.
I want to thank Beverly for making the awesome button for the 30 day food challenge. She gave me 2 really great buttons to choose from. Plus she is such a sweetheart. So make sure that you get the button and share it!

So make sure to come back each day to see what recipes have been posted. I hope you all have a great day!

Dry Erase Frame

Lynette at Get your Craft On did this great frame that you could use as a dry erase board. I think she used fabric. I used scrapbook paper and put that where you would put a picture. Then I made a couple of cute flowers for the corner. It was definitely loved by the bride to be. So if you are looking for a quick and easy bridal shower gift or wedding gift look no further.

Ice Cream Social

Every year my parents host an Ice Cream Social. Its a great get together for all the people that they know, because lets face it, as life goes on we get busier and busier.
I forgot to get picture when we got started so here are the leftovers. Those are homemade waffle cones. They are so delicious. I eat them all alone, no ice cream.
Here are all the toppings. So delicious.

The theme this year was old fashion ice cream parlor style. It was so fun and cute. Also for those that wanted to you could bring your own homemade ice cream. My hubby thought it would be funny to make a gag ice cream. He first wanted pickle ice cream but we thought it might curdle the milk so we went with Ketchup and Mustard flavors instead. I think it looks more like strawberry banana. It was a huge success (or failure whichever way you want to look at it)

New Car Seat Tents

I have been so busy the last couple weeks preparing and going to girls camp with my church, getting next months food challenge going (I am still looking for a few more submissions mostly DESSERTS), decorating a wedding (it was outdoors and the wind was blowing so hard that I was not able to get any pictures), that this blog has been neglected a bit.

I have been working very slowly on some car seat tents.
Green, Brown, and blue car seat tent is great for any boy
This and the next tents are the same color scheme. I love how different they are even though they have the same exact fabrics.

Also, we all know how bad I am at digital things so I am wondering if someone would mind making me a button for the 30 day food challenge. I would really appreciate it :)

Free Appliques

I use a lot of appliques in my line of work. Most of them I have free-handed, but some I have printed pictures I like from the internet and then worked them into appliques.

I will be uploading to my scribd account many of the appliques that I have stored on my computer. Some will only be available for purchase but others you are more than welcome to use for your personal use only.

They can be found here. So far I have butterfly, bees, cowboy boot, cowboy hat, and horseshoe. If there is any other appliques you might be interested in please let me know.

Ginger Lemon Bars by Jargonhead

Ginger lemon bars
Ingredients
For the crust:
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 powdered sugar
1 tsp lemon zest
1/2 tsp grated vanilla bean (optional)
pinch of salt
3/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

For the lemon filling:
6 large eggs
3 cups sugar
zest of 2 lemons
1 cup plus 2 tblsp fresh lemon juice (about 5-7 lemons)
1-2 tblsp fresh grated ginger
1/2 cup all purpose flour

Preheat over to 325F. Whisk flour, sugar, salt, vanilla bean, lemon zest for crust together. Add butter, and with pastry cutter or fork cut in butter until mixture is pea sized. Press mixture into an ungreased 13x9inch baking pan (others work as well, just adjust baking time accordingly). Bake until golden brown, around 30 minutes. Transfer pan to a cooling rack and reduce heat to 300F.

Whisk together eggs and sugar in a (preferably) cold bowl until well blended. Stir in lemon juice, zest, and ginger. Sift the flour over the mixture and softly fold in until smooth. Pour the batter immediately over the baked crust. Bake in 300F oven about 35 minutes or until topping is set. Cool and serve.

Whats Happenin?

Just wanted to pop in before I head out of town for a couple of days.

I am going to girls camp this week. I am not a camper. Don't think I will ever be. I am excited though to get to know 13 fabulous girls! They are all ready to go.

Keep those recipes coming. I have all the ones scheduled so far that have come in to me. If you sent me a recipe and I have not let you know when it is scheduled please send me an email and I will let you know what day your recipe will be featured on. I am about halfway there with the entree recipes, but I do need more dessert/side dish recipes.

I hope you all have a great week!

Cottage Cheese Pancakes by Birch Cove Kitchen

"Cinnamon-Peach Cottage Cheese Pancakes"

"A cottage cheese-based pancake with fruit for extra flavor."
Prep Time: 10 Min Cook Time: 30 Min Ready In: 40 MinIngredients

* 4 eggs
* 1 cup cottage cheese
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 2 tablespoons butter, melted
* 1 peach, shredded
* 1 cup all-purpose flour
* 2 tablespoons white sugar
* 1 pinch salt
* 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

1. Mix eggs, cottage cheese, milk, vanilla, butter, and peach in a large bowl. Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Stir flour mixture into the cottage cheese mixture until just combined.
2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle over medium-high heat. Drop batter by large spoonfuls onto the griddle, and cook until bubbles form and the edges are dry. Flip, and cook until browned on the other side. Repeat with remaining batter.

YUM!!!!!!!!!

For your syrup I suggest using Tupperware Micro Pitcher Set. It works really well, heats evenly and prevents splatters in the microwave. I love having a measuring cup and warmer all in one!

Blog Swap with Singing Three Little Birds

Hi! I'm Julie from Singing Three Little Birds!

Thanks so much for having me! I am a children's librarian and mother of two young children. When my children are sleeping, I blog and craft and I recently started an Etsy shop Belle Rose Designs.

Fridays are Featured Flower Fridays at Singing Three Little Birds where I feature flower crafty projects. I love seeing all the beautiful projects out there and make fabric flowers to put on shirts and jewelry constantly. Here are some of my favorite projects I made:

Photobucket

I recently learned how to sew and challenged myself to make a new wardrobe on a budget. I've shared a couple of my projects recently but have more to do! Never enough time!

I made a new dress! Which I love!

And a new skirt!

It's been such a fun challenge.

I've been pretty busy making some baby items too! I wanted to share this tutorial for making an easy Baby Shower Gift using a paper towel tube.

Here's What You'll Need:

onesie, t-shirt, etc.

fabric paint

paper towel tube or toilet paper tube

Cut a circle from your tube.

Form your circle into a heart or other shape. (You can leave it a circle too!)

Dip your tube shape into fabric paint and print onto your onesie. I always forget to do this but before you begin printing or painting on a onesie or t-shirt put a piece of paper or cardboard inside. Otherwise your paint will seep through and your onesie will stick together!

I printed several hearts on mine.

I love the way they turned out!

Thanks for having me today! Have a great Day! Be sure to stop by for a visit!

~Julie
