Wilton Princess Castle

Yippee!  It only took me 2 afternoons to complete this small work of art. Like I said last week I made this cake with the wilton princess castle set.
They plastic towers and window and doors that you put onto your cake.  I used my Styrofoam cakes to make it.
I covered the cake in fondant and then used buttercream frosting to frost the rest.

I put food coloring in a bag full of sugar and colored it pink for the cones on the towers.  Then I frosted the cones and rolled them in the sugar.

This cake was a ton of fun to make.  It was pretty funny to see everyone's relief that we wouldn't be eating the cake.  Instead we had angle food cupcakes with fresh strawberries and whipping cream.  The kids got some fun confetti lollipop cookies.

Check ME Out Saturday Week 55

Welcome to another week of Check ME Out Saturday.
There were so many beautiful entries.  I love perusing them in my spare time.  Here are a couple of my favorites:

Etcetorize has this beautiful little girls top.  These appliques could be used on ANYTHING though.  Check them out HERE

Cherished Treasures made some beautiful little notebooks.  My daughter LOVES to use these notebooks.  Now I have another craft idea that we could do together!
Check it out HERE

Remember to NOT link up things you are selling.  Also, please link directly to your blog post and not to just your blog.

I can't wait to see what you have been up to this week!

Castle Birthday Cake -Part 1

Remember the other day when I told you I am going to be making a Castle Cake for my daughter with the Wilton Castle Set?

I started it yesterday.  I am not making the cake using cake for the castle.  Instead, I am using Styrofoam for the cake and then making cupcakes on Sunday so that I don't have to do a lot of work really all in 1 day.

So yesterday I covered the foam layers with saran wrap, then frosted with butter cream frosting so that the fondant would stick.  Finally, I covered the 2 layers with marshmallow fondant. Find the recipe HERE

Beautify your Television

Lets just say that I love my TV.  I love to DVR as many shows as I can so that I "listen" to them throughout my day.  It drives my husband crazy that I don't "watch" tv but just listen to it while I go on with being a mom and businesswoman.

Lets face it...TV's are NOT pretty things but as a woman I feel it is my responsibility to MAKE it pretty.  Don't you agree?
I can only imagining 2 of my favorite things to do...reading and Television.  I have always wanted my own library.

This is another of my favorite  flat panel TV stands
Do you think that would make my TV pretty?  What is your favorite way to BEAUTIFY your Television?

Its my Daugthers Birthday

My 4 yr old is not going to be 4 for much longer.  Her birthday is Sunday.  She has requested a princess castle.  So I googled Castles and this picture popped up.  Of course she was watching over my shoulder and HAD to have that cake.

So I ordered this set for her.  Sunday is the big day to give it a try.

Has anyone ever done a cake like this?  Any suggestions.  I think I am going to use THIS fondant recipe to cover the cake and then I am not sure how I will decorate the towers and such.

Crockpot Lasagna

Image borrowed from HERE

I love lasagna, but I hate how long it takes to make it.

Lasagna
1 pound ground hamburger browned
1 15 oz can of tomato sauce
1 package spaghetti seasoning
1 medium onion chopped
4 cloves garlic diced
2 cups spinach diced
15 oz ricotta cheese
2 cups water
lasagna noodles (not cooked)
1 cup mozzarella grated
1/4 c Parmesan cheese grated

Combine the hamburger, tomato sauce, spaghetti seasoning, onion, garlic, and water.  In another bowl combine the mozzarella (except for some left out to sprinkle on the top of the lasagna), spinach, ricotta cheese, and parmesan cheese.  Then layer 1/3 of the hamburger, lasagna noodles (break them if you need to), then the ricotta cheese into a 5 quart crockpot.  Repeat 2 more times and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.  Cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours.

Yummy Banana Bread

I love banana bread.  I don't make it very often because I can't keep bananas around long enough.
Here is the recipe:

Banana Bread
3/4 c shortening
1 1/2 c sugar
3 eggs
1/2 c chopped walnuts (If desired)
4-8 mashed bananas
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
3 c flour

Mix the first 3 ingredients together.  Then add the bananas.  Mix well.  Then add remaining ingredients.  Makes 2 loaves

Blog Swap with Not Just Paper and Glue

Today I want to introduce you to Tammy from Not just Paper and Glue.  She has some really fun and cut things on her blog.  Take it away Tammy

Hi everyone! Tammy here from Not Just Paper and Glue. I want to thank Bobbie for inviting me to stop in today and share some of my projects with all of you.

Not Just Paper and Glue started out in December 2006 as a place to show off my scrapbook pages and talk about some of the fun things that happen around our little farm. Today you will find everything from scrapbooking to cheesemaking, handmade cards to homemade soap, wild flowers to tame sunsets and cool crafts to fresh hot bread - because life is not just about paper and glue; it's a whole lot more!
One of the exciting things that has happened to me this year is being named the Marketing & Sales Rep for P K Glitz. This has added a lot of “bling” to my projects that are now featured. One of them is a new design for our Art Acetates – Backgrounds.
This was a funny thing that happened to me after I had rearranged my little Studio
Here are some of my readers favorite posts from last year

My goal is to help people feel free to share their creative talents as I try to encourage them along this path in life. I hope you will stop by Not Just Paper and Glue whenever you get a chance. You can also find me on Twitter or Facebook.
